Long wait times in the ER are unbearable , but I am writing this review for my mom’s nurse Holly. Let’s just say my mom couldn’t have any food or water for the 5 days she was there and having an NG tube is no fun. Holly was amazing. Attentive, caring and went above and beyond to try to help my mom stay comfortable and cared for. Her attention to details and communication with myself and my mom was beyond wonderful. We both appreciated having her there.

Hi! I want to give special kudos to Nurse Melissa & Patient Assistant, Cyrus, that took care of my elderly & blind Dad yesterday, 1/29/25, bed 140A. You were both awesome & gave him the best care & attention! I appreciate it!
And a special thanks to a pleasant roomy, Randy, in bed 140B, that politely listened to all of my Dad’s stories!💕

Emergency Room 2 staff could still use some improvement, but I’m still grateful!!
The hospital has improved tremendously since 2020.

This hospital is a rip off. I took my wife there for a flu like symptoms and we ended up with $12,000 bill. Mostly covered by the insurance but we had to pay about $1,000 for deductibles. Lab services $6,000 (between flu swap, blood works, covid test). Emergency room visit $5,000. No one can explain what is this $5,000 for. Not to mention the 7 hours wait for a flu. It used to be a lot better before UCI health took over.

I was recently in the ICU simply becay there there were no regular rooms available. I had intracranial bleeding which initially presented as a stroke. The care was good but I particularly was appreciative and even amused by the care of ICU nurse Alexandra Alvarez, who was as fun to be with as she was caring and compassionate. She made my stay as enjoyable as possible under the circumstances. I am grateful for her care.

Well we have been here in the ER since 6 am it is now 9 pm and we’re supposed to be admitted to a room hours ago. The nurse care was average. They told us the orthopedic doctor was going to see her as she has a fractured wrist that has been temporarily splinted, he never showed up today. Multiple doctors came in to give their opinion, nurses were confused as to what tests were ordered and given I had to tell them they were already done. The main nurse was asleep at her desk.. I will never come here again ! This is unacceptable and I am very surprised that now supposedly Being UCi that they are operating like this. I would not recommend coming here, thank goodness my mom has us to advocate for her.

Great job on the emergency staffing to stabilizing me. Once admitted to the facility on Friday he first floor I was completely neglected by the staff on Friday night, rude and unattended staff, low level of hygiene in the room, share room with a patient that was allowed to have 4 loud visitors at 24 hrs visiting hours without following protocol on any king of health care.

If you don't have time to read in entirety, hear me in these two things: DO NOT receive care here if you can help it, and DO NOT come here for oncology,. I am in the group that would give 0 stars. My mother is being "treated" in the oncology department and E.R., and they are ACTUALLY the worst. I would say they are a mirage of a hospital, not a place to treat people for anything really. Let's see, where do I start? This review isn't even for the hospital administrators, because they aren't likely to change anything. This is a lazy hospital, with physicians and nurses who couldn't care less. Pay attention to how many reviewers mention (non)disposal of feces and urine. My mother who is only 52, a healthy and active woman before her stage 4 ovarian cancer diagnosis. She had no symptoms, until almost all at once. She had a terrible reaction to her first round of chemo, and was asleep for several hours. She wet herself, because she was basically comatose, and the nurses had nothing to provide my sister with to clean her up, not even a towel or clean scrubs ro change her into. So they might have provided a sheet, which my sister covered her with while my aunt went to retrieve clean clothing from my mother's house. When they finally sent her to the E.R. knowing something was wrong, they did nothing for her there either, except to provide a bed. I don't believe they put a catheter in, and she couldn't walk yet, and no nurseds came to help her use the restroom, so my sister and step-dad had to help my mom urinate on a bed pad, and my poor mother, who was still out of it, was nonethless refusing out of the sheer lack of dignity in it. I think it was frustrating and embarrassing for. Then her oncologist couldn't be bothered to reach out even by telephone to explain what may have happened to her patient, who was basically put in a coma by the chemotherapy, and none of the doctors in the E.R. had answers either, so they just gave a half version of one telling us that, "It was probably the Benadryl." Imagine being put in a coma, and no one will tell you what happened to you, because your doctor can't be bothered, and everyone in the hospital couldn't care less and no one does any investigating whatsoever, they just release you once you're awake and can walk? Truly the worst hospital I have ever come across. My mom got results from another PT scan, and again, her doctor can't be bothered, or a tech, or anyone to read the results and break them down for us, so we are just reaching out to friends and family who are in the medical field, and deciphering things on Google. The ONLY people who did anything to take care of my mom, were the people that siphoned internal fluids that caused my mom's belly to be distended. Other than that, 0 stars, and an F for failure. By the way, her oncologist is a joke. Maybe she just doesn't care about my mom because her diagnosis is a hard one to beat, but truly she has disappointed us so thoroughly. I believe she is giving zero care for her patients like my mother, who have a late stage diagnosis, just waiting for them to die basically, because why work harder when the checks roll in anyways? Just don't be treated here if you can help it. And long story short, yes we are going to find my mother a new doctor.

My mom recently had to be sent to the ER via paramedics due to a plethora of issues happening at home. She had a wonderful ER team, the room was good and I was impressed with the caliber of the Nurses. She was finally admitted to a regular bed after a few days and overall her experience was very good. Nurses were excellent, and I really appreciated Dr. Badr going the extra mile with my mom. This is a dr who actually cares about his patients. She's had various trips to the hospital and I've learned to always talk to the Caseworker and Case Managers to get info. I want to give a shoutout to Elizabeth Gutierrez in the Case management department. She went TRULY above and beyond trying to get my mom situated and safely returned home while also making sure I was armed with info on Skilled Nursing Rehabs in case things went south. I cannot thank her enough for being super communicative the whole stay - She got everything done she said she would, and she even stopped by my mom's room to chat with her and get info, even to say hello to me (since we'd talked a few times to share discharge plans). This woman is amazing! She needs a raise!
