I have volunteered and donated to MMDC for 11 years, great non-profit. Makes best use of donations. Has opportunites for on site volunteers as well as projects for off-site projects. Works with partner non-profits to meet needs world wide.

I went to the Illinois State VOAD ( Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters) meeting here. After our meeting we went on an inside tour of the warehouse. I was very impressed to say the very least!!! It was amazing to see everything they did in order to serve their fellow man. Not only do they put together clean up kits and personal hygiene kits, they are fixing and restoring sewing machines, electric and non electric, bikes as well as building desks out of old wooden gym bleachers. Plus putting together other types of kits to help those who have been effected by disasters. Individuals as well as groups are welcome to come and volunteer their time. They can find things for anyone to do, even if you have a disability. Just make sure to call in advance so you can get more information and set up dates and times. I definitely want to come volunteer. Thinking about getting a Scouts volunteer weekend so more can volunteer to such a worthy cause

I worked with a team assembling flood buckets, making school kits, repairing sewing machines, building desks and whatever else needed to be done. I also met someone who was on the receiving end of the buckets and school kits. When I asked them how they used the school kits, they shared that the children needed something to do while they wait ~ wait for the water to recede, wait for school to start again, wait for the electricity to come back on, etc. A HUGE joy was being able to pray for the different kits made that particular day. Prayers for the shipments heading out and for the receivers are always done. What a blessing to be able to help and to hear how these supplies are used!!! Thank you MMDC for the chance to help others.

The mission serves people all over the world who have suffered destruction due to natural disasters. I halped make desks for school children, packaged baby layettes, and sewed childrens clothes. They also refurbish bicycles and sewing machines, electric and tredle to be shipped to various parts of the world. This is just a small sampling of what they do.
