We rented a car on January 18. All smooth and professional, though the tire treads were unfit for snow travel. Returned the vehicle on time, 5 days later, cleaner than we received it (have photos to support my assertion).

It’s now March 2nd. Not only have they not released our security deposit, they have double charged for the security deposit and the rental.

Credit Card company on notice, with the next step the Vermont Attorney General’s Office.

Proceed with extreme caution.

Horrible rented a car and never got my $200+ deposit after I returned the car, they blamed it on the bank (Heritage). Although heritage said they never deposited money back in my account. This was like 2 years ago, but I want everyone to be aware. If you wanna get scammed don't rent from these clowns

On September 30th I delivered a rental vehicle to them on time and without damage in Saranak Lake Airport. It's been 3 weeks and they still haven't returned my $250 deposit or another $250 charge that they made without explanation. Here is a breakdown of the charges that they haven't returned to me:

$250 on August 9th (2874 MasterCard - wedu0auyzo9ftjflds1h)
$250 on September 20th (Security Deposit - Security Deposit Payable at Pickup Time)

It's disrespectful that they don't answer calls or emails. For the quick rental they charged me the full amount of the reservation but to refund the money that they HAVE to return they don't answer.

ANYONE who WANTS to have a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE this is the perfect company for you to have it. They DO NOT HAVE REPRESENTATIVES at the airport and the person who gives you and receives the keys is an airport employee NOT from Adirondack Rental Cars.

I look forward to your response and refund within the next 48 hours.

UPDATE: They say that they refunded me on August 7, but the TRUE is that they CHARGED me $250 on August 9. Evidence Attached

Upon seeing the bad reviews I thought I would state my own opinion on this business, my mother and I rented a vehicle back in June of 2021 so I would still be able to go visit a friend whom had moved to Arizona that was visiting family in Mass. The vehicle we had originally rented had been in a moose collision the night/early morning prior to our pick up and they worked with us to still accommodate our needs and give us a clean vehicle to travel in despite it having just gotten back from being rented out. The vehicle was clean, comfy, and affordable all in all and I would gladly rent from them again. They were incredible to work with despite that small mishap that they worked quickly to correct.

Read the reviews regarding security deposits, overcharging, and difficulty getting funds returned.

I rent from this company once per year. Every year it is the same problem. They charge a $250 security deposit on booking, then charge the full rental price, then charge other random fees.

It will take weeks of phone calls and texts, and you will eventually get most of the overcharges back, but not without considerable effort and frustration on your part.

They do this every time.

Why go back? They are the only ones in town. $150 a day for a rental is more than enough where you shouldn’t have to fraudulently charge and make it so difficult. Forwarding to Visa, American Express, etc so they can review.

STAY AWAY! THIS PLACE IS SCAMMING PEOPLE AND STEALING THEIR MONEY. I made a reservation on 12/7 for a all-wheel drive vehicle with snow tires for 12/22-12/25 to be delivered to me and my family at the Albany Train Station at 1PM. We would need a good vehicle for the unpredictable Vermont winter weather and considering our rental home was up a steep mountain, this choice seemed to have it all. About an hour before the start of my confirmed and signed for reservation, I called to check how we can access the car upon arrival, since nothing had been communicated to me, which was surprising. I was told that the car would not be delivered until 5PM which would strand me and family at the train station so instead they were canceling my reservation and made a reservation at Enterprise. Which is already crazy enough, how could they mess up this reservation so badly? The only issue was they made a reservation for a sedan that was not all wheel drive in Albany, Oregon. Thank goodness for the wonderful folks at Enterprise in Albany, New York, where I actually was with my family, because they were able to actually find my reservation and change it to a all-wheel drive picking up at that location since "Marcus" the manager at Vermont Rental Cars would no longer answer my phone calls to help me change the Enterprise reservation. In fact, that day not only was his phone number no longer working the actual main line at Vermont Rental Cars went dead and no longer worked either. I saw that my account was indeed credited the $750 charge on 12/22 but then on 12/23 it was charged the amount again! I've been reading that others have been getting charges on their card even though they have used this service for a year. Reporting this company to the Vermont Attorney General's office since not only did they not have a REAL CAR for me and my family, they STOLE MONEY FROM ME THE VERY NEXT DAY!!

Rented a car while visiting Vermont and our car having trouble. They agreed to have the car brought to us so we agreed on waiting for 45mins as they said they would drop it off. They brought the car after 1.5hrs left it parked with out telling us any car information and it wasn’t until I called again to find out where they had left it that they finally told us where it was. Then they charged me for extra mileage on the suv they rented us on the first day we got it even before I drove it. When I called to get the mileage charged removed they mentioned it was their policy which they failed to mention when I first booked the rental. They said a manager would call me back which never happened. Looking at it today there is now two additional charges on my account. So four total charges. I am unhappy with the service and knowing they have my credit card info and are using it to charge for other vehicles without my permission is very worrisome. When trying to call they answer and put me on hold until the call drop. I would stay away and head to enterprise. Which is what I did after returning their vehicle. I feel that me telling them I was from out of state has made them do some shady business with my information and card now. I would stay away. I attached a photo to show everyone that they said it was for mileage via messages and now the "owner " is saying a pick up and drop fee and a smoke charge. This is clearly a scam and a money grab from an unprofessional company doing shady things.

We went to Killington for a ski trip. We booked a ford bronco over a month in advance.

2 days before the trip we receive an email stating no bronco available you can choose fire explorer or jeep. We chose explorer since Han’s told us it was larger (we have a family of 4).

We arrive at the airport and there was a jeep waiting for us. Red flag number 1.

As soon as we started moving and I hit the brakes the brake rotors were clearly warped as the car vibrated. Red flag 2.

Then when there was a change of plans for our flight we needed to get a different drop off location. I was told it would be $100 for the new return location. I then received an email stating it was $200.

When I checked my credit card it was charged for $350!!!!!!! After bringing this to their attention they did nothing.

Avoid them if you can.
