First time using this location and happy with everything from location to customer service. Christina was amazing and very helpful with what I needed. Very easy to get a truck rented without hassle. I would definitely use this company again and would recommend to anyone looking to move or haul things short or long distances. Best part is you can drop the truck at different locations. The best of both worlds.

Everything was great, but the only problem I did find was that, there was already a crack in the windshield, and I think a person should be let know if that before they are given a track to rent.
But otherwise it was great.
It was a small crack in the passenger side windshield, but none the less, the next person given that van, should be let known about it.Yes they did know about the crack.

Waited outside in 9 degree weather for :15 for someone to process my return. Never happened so had to do the app return which takes forever. This location is definitely a step below lake in the hills location.

I needed a vehicle trailer to bring a car home locally. I got a quote online and the price was much more affordable than having it towed by a towing company. The staff in the Crystal Lake U-Haul location were easy to work with and I was in and out in a few minutes. The equipment was in good condition and getting the car loaded, secured and relocated was easy and trouble free. I highly recommend U-Haul and this location for your moving or truck rental needs. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I am very disappointed in the overall services I received today. Upon arriving to rent a U-Haul pickup truck, there wasn't any signage showing where customers were to park. I found a spot not by any U-Haul trucks or equipment in an open spot. Parked there and went inside. Upon getting in, I was told it would cost me $100 to rent a truck for the day. I went to charge a card and realized I didn't want to put funds on it. The guy smiled at me as if I was broke or something yet had my Tesla sitting outside.... I pulled out a wad of cash and decided to pay in CASH instead. Doing things this way they would still require a card on file and a $100 hold on the card in addition to the $100 cash. Didn't make sense. So, I went home to get a different card and came back. So, I just charged the card the $100 instead without a hold of an additional amount of money. Kinda frustrating. The gentleman asked if I parked in the customer parking area, and I mentioned to him that I didn't see where there was any but parked in a spot on the other side of the lot...

Upon getting the U-Haul, we didn't do a full walkaround of the vehicle for initial inspection, as you would do renting from a car rental company. They didn't tell me that the vehicle had less than 3/4 a tank and just handed me the keys. In addition, he asked how many miles I would be driving and I said less than 100. That was outlined in the agreement as part of the miles to be used. I trustingly just took it for what it was.

I ran to the nursery to grab some shrubs and dropped them off at my home. I returned the truck within 4 hours. I was told by a rep that I was only allowed 65 miles and that anything over that would have to pay $0.79 per mile. The truck was given to me with 37 miles. I returned it with less than 100 miles, as we had in the agreement. Nowhere in the agreement did it state that I would be charged the extra amount, nor did I drive over the 65 miles as he stated I supposedly did.

In addition, he said that I owed them $20 in fuel which didn't make sense as I used less than that with the miles driven. I also returned it with the same amount of fuel it was given to me. In addition, because the bed had some dirt marks it would supposedly take them a while to scrub it out when it wasn't that bad. Had I known that there was an additional fee to wash the truck I would have just gone to the car wash. The truck was dirty on the outside when I picked it up, and I didn't realize it was a huge ordeal. He told me that it would cost me an additional $25 to wash the truck and deep clean the bed.

When I went to my vehicle pull away, I could see all the young guys that were working behind the desk of the place outside checking out the bed of the truck as if it was a big ordeal. I had picked up 4 shrubs in burlap from the nursery. It wasn't messy and just needed to be hosed out. I assumed that they do this anyway per vehicle that is rented upon being returned. I guess I assumed wrong.

After everything is said and done, I am deeply disappointed with the lack of transparency and the numerous unexpected fees. These were not mentioned in the contract that I signed. If I had known this upfront, I would have taken the time to wash the truck, etc. As a result, I have decided that I will not rent from U-Haul again.
