They don't perform real background checks when making decisions, just the free court view website from their office computer. Court view has a disclaimer that just because a case is listed it does not automatically mean guilty. Real background checks are available at the Alaska State Troopers office. Also, this property looks exactly the same as it did years ago, nothing is updated at all. It's like a blast from the past to the 1980's. They are not doing business to be good at it, they are just there to either rip you off or try to humiliate you in some way no matter if you are renting an apartment, a storage unit or a car storage space. Do not recommend them to anyone!! less than 1 star if it were possible

Old apartment doesn't have any modern technology. The stove is an old GE. The carpet looks kinda old as long as it's clean it looks fine. The bathroom is old looking as well as the bath tub i received looked like it needed to be replaced or repurposed (the white in the tub had some yellow in it from over cleaning i'm guessing). The parking lots need to be fixed and i mean before the winter came they weren't great. As well as double check everything and keep receipts, because i was told they would take the keys and everything would be handled. I have a energy bill and I moved out over a month ago so just double check everything. Rent is too high for such underwhelming appliances and amenities.

I used to live here from 2021-22, but moved out because there was a violent drunk person that lived down the hall from me and also homeless that used to live on the stairwell leaving bio hazards where they slept. I’m not sure about those issues anymore.

I kept my storage unit that is owned/leased by the same company and it had been vandalized and broken into several times in the past few months and once last fall. Over $1K in tools stolen.

I was just notified today, that because I maybe a target or my storage unit is, I must vacate to a new one on property or leave the property. So now my problem is even worse because why would I stay in place that can’t police the safety of my stuff and myself when I come to check on things.

I’m going to leave. I don’t think this is a place anyone should rent unless you’re ok with the extra trouble.

$250 a month for a storage unit should provide enough security to protect your items for safe keeping.

Horrible place to live. They get into your business real deep. The staff manager it might be one of the worse i ever dealt with. I don’t recommend to no one live here at all. This place sucks.

Luxury apartments is a joke. Staff is constantly disorganized and always look annoyed when you ask them for laundry tokens. Units have no in unit laundry or dishwasher. Everything in all the units is a weird brown color except for A building. Most recent "improvement" was a spray top on the parking lot that was called a re-paving. Do yourself a favor and keep looking.

I lived in Sophie Plaza apartments for a couple years. Even though the buildings were old, their maintenance and upkeep was pretty good. The cost of using their laundry was pricey, but they were of large capacity. I don't like that the renewal leasing terms after living there the first full year is for another full year (instead of month-month). However, when I had to leave my lease early, they were very accommodating. They paid me back all of my security deposit except for $5. And they gave back to me a months worth of rent when they found a tenant to live in my old apt.

Sophie's Plaza was my first real place I lived in, on my own. The apartment was affordable, I lived in a very quiet building, all the appliances were up to date, and the hallways were kept clear and clean. Since there is no smoking, it's always refreshing to know that you can leave your window open or step out to the balcony and not smell anything off. It was always a great help knowing that the staff was always nice and friendly.
When it became a problem with homeless people sleeping in the hallway... the staff placed locks on the front doors. There were a couple occasions where I had locked myself outside after hours, but the staff was always one call away to help me back inside. They really care and listen to their tenants. Being in a single income relationship, I thought money would be super tight, but the only utility we had to pay was electricity. That made life so much easier.
I know this is rambly and i'm missing a lot of great stuff probably, but I loved Sophie's and the wonderful staff that worked there. I'm really gonna miss it.

I PCS’ed to Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks and moved into Sophie’s in the summer of 2016. I was in a hurry to find a place and didn’t look around a whole lot, worst mistake of my entire Fairbanks Alaska expirience. The staff at first seemed easy to work with but after you sign your lease they are TERRIBLE and SO RUDE. At Sophie’s they tell you absolutely nothing on the balcony’s to include tire storage or temporary trash placement. I left my trash on the balcony one evening and it only took a few hours for them to charge me. This isn’t what bothered me, it’s the fact that EVERY SINGLE PERSON has tires and trash on their balcony’s and they do NOTHING. After I moved out I totally spaced giving them my carpet cleaning receipt. I spent 60 dollars on cleaner and the machine. My apartment and it’s carpets were immaculate. I never missed a months payment, I was quiet and always friendly to the staff and other residence. As I was driving to my next duty station they called me and told me they were charging me 115 dollars for the lack of carpet cleaning receipt. They knew the carpets were clean and that I had already driven across the country and refused to wave the fee. My wife lived there a few months with me (she PCSed to another station way before me) and agrees that this apartment complex is terrible. One star Sophie’s, you are terrible to people and do not care for military personnel who are 90% of your residence!
