Core Specialties and Services

Trucking Company

At its heart, Simon Transport functions primarily as a specialized trucking company. This specialization encompasses a wide array of services designed to meet different shipment requirements. From the transportation of standard Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) cargo to the secure and tailored handling of oversized or overweight freight, Simon Transport aims to provide flexible solutions. Their expertise likely extends to both local and cross-country, potentially even international, deliveries, leveraging a network of trucks and routes to ensure timely arrivals.

As a dedicated trucking company, Simon Transport focuses on the end-to-end movement of goods via road transport. This involves meticulous planning, route optimization, and driver management. Clients can expect services that range from scheduled pickups and deliveries to specialized handling for temperature-sensitive or fragile items. The company's reputation for reliability in trucking suggests a strong emphasis on punctuality, cargo security, and adherence to industry regulations throughout the shipping process.

Freight Forwarding Service

Expanding beyond pure trucking, Simon Transport offers valuable freight forwarding service. Freight forwarding involves consolidating cargo from multiple consignors, arranging for its transport via various modes (primarily trucks, but potentially others), and managing customs clearance, documentation, and insurance. This service is particularly beneficial for businesses with smaller shipment volumes or those requiring consolidated shipping to achieve economies of scale.

By providing freight forwarding service, Simon Transport simplifies the often complex logistics process for its clients. This includes handling paperwork, coordinating with carriers, tracking shipments, and offering warehousing solutions if needed. Clients seeking freight forwarding service can leverage the company's expertise to navigate the intricacies of domestic shipping, benefiting from cost-effective solutions and a single point of contact for their entire logistics chain.

Shipping Company

Simon Transport also operates effectively as a shipping company, offering the movement of goods across distances. While 'shipping' often conjures images of ocean freight, in this context, it aligns with the broader definition encompassing all modes of cargo transport. Simon Transport's role as a shipping company likely includes the timely delivery of packages and larger shipments across the United States, potentially connecting businesses with suppliers and customers nationwide.

As a shipping company, Simon Transport ensures that goods reach their destinations reliably. This involves sophisticated tracking systems, clear communication channels, and a network of partners and carriers. Whether a client needs express shipping for urgent deliveries or standard freight service for bulkier items, Simon Transport aims to provide efficient and transparent shipping solutions, contributing significantly to supply chain integrity.

This is going to be long so bear with me.

This is my honest review of working for Simon Transport for 2 years.

(I want be very clear that these are MY opinions and experiences and mine alone)

I was hired in Feb of 2022 and I truly did love coming to work. They hype up the ā€œFamily Cultureā€ like every other company and this was the first one to actually prove it… in the beginning.

I was let go with absolutely no explanation other than ā€œyou no longer fit our culture.ā€ According to all of my managers, all of my monthly and yearly reviews, KPI’s and everything else were outstanding… or so I thought.

The managers were awesome, owners were awesome, office staff were incredible. Everyone was extremely welcoming and willing to help at any given moment. Until my direct manager decided to go else where… that’s when things changed.

This is when things took a turn for the worse. A fellow office employee was hired as Operations Manager and while he was an incredible person (still is) he was no fit for this position. It was at this time that the ā€œfamily cultureā€ was becoming more and more ā€œcorporate.ā€ Said employee very smartly left this company and was replaced by someone even worse.

The ā€œfamilyā€ culture very quickly turned corporate when they decided to hire an HR person. This company will argue that they still have a ā€œsmall businessā€ feel but once you’re inside, it’s completely corporate.

My job title was ā€œoperations coordinator.ā€ I was hired to help out, be backup for dispatch, and handle all driver paperwork. That quickly changed to everything stated above to many, many more roles. I made the mistake of showing I can handle stress well and can wear many hats. My ability to do so was VERY MUCH taken advantage of.

My first experience with this ā€œnot so family feelā€ was when a driver of the company (who is still employed with ST) called me on my desk phone to tell me ā€œI really would like to take you to the bathroom..ā€ (let your mind fill in the blanks) I immediately went to my new direct manager and was told ā€œwe will handle itā€ .. 2 months later I found out all that was said was ā€œdon’t do it again.ā€ While the Owner did offer (then 3 months later) to fire said driver on the spot, I did not want to take a man’s lively hood away. I let it go.

My second experience with this was when an office employee (who is still employed with ST) lifted my dress up from behind while I was walking up the stairs. This time, I went beyond my direct supervisor and went straight to the director of HR who proceeded to tell me ā€œit’s probably the way you present yourself.ā€ Victim shaming at its finest. Nothing happened to said employee and I still worked very closely with this employee until my last day at Simon Transport.

Now let’s change focus here. The drivers… drivers are treated like gold. (see 2 paragraphs up for reference) It’s as if they parted the Red Sea themselves. If you want to drive for them, I highly recommend it. Drivers are not held accountable for anything, they walk all over office staff, managers included.

As far as working in the office, I do not recommend this. The owner has stood 10 feet from all employees and stated that we are all deplorable, knows we can be paid more elsewhere, and if we want to go, then go. Office staff is grossly underpaid with extraordinary knowledge while most managers are grossly overpaid and have limited knowledge.

Managers at Simon Transport will throw you under the bus and without a second thought, put it in reverse and run you over. Blame is passed on every decision that is made. Communication is non existent, even though the owners PREACH about having open communication.

All in all, if you want a job that pays decent to get you by, go for it. Do not plan on a career here and do not expect to be treated like ā€œfamilyā€ … Actually, family is the first to screw you over so I guess you are treated like family.

Response: No, I actually waited because I know how spiteful management is and I did not want it taken out on my fiancƩ. And for the record, I still have no idea why I was actually fired.

If I could leave 0 stars I would but this place disappoints and let's you down even after laying you off without any notice by keeping your own personal training materials and awards received during employment. They have the highest turnover in all staff whether it being a mutiny walkout or from management ruining peoples lives by not telling the truth on how the business is doing and you're out of a job without notice. Good luck if you deal with this business. Unprofessional in all manners.

My husband Donny and I team and just become part of the Simon family. I have to say they have welcomed us and made us feel like we were here for years already. Brian is awesome and helped us through the entire process. He made it easy.... Now that we have started driving he didn't just stop communicating. Angie has a personality that will draw anyone in. Holly is the dispatcher and she has a great personality and really knows how to connect with the drivers. Here you dont feel like a number but a family. I look forward to our continued relationship for many many years. If you are looking for a great company to work for DON T WAIT... CALL BRIAN!!
