I tried Schooners for the first time tonight after years of living in Peoria. I really hate to say this but I’m not interested in coming back as much as I wanted to love it. 🙁 Staff was very nice and accommodating, but the food was just not great.

We ordered carry out and arrived before it was ready, but the order was lukewarm at best. We ordered the beer battered chicken, kids grilled cheese, corn fritters and onion rings.

The onion rings and corn fritters were the stars of the meal for sure. The chicken looked so good and was intended as the main course, but while it was crispy and juicy, it was totally flavorless as were the fries. With how good it all looked and the great flavor of the onion rings, im genuinely surprised by the severe lack of any flavor in the chicken whatsoever.

On the upside, again, the onion rings and fritters were very good. Some of the best onion rings I’ve had. Id never even heard of a corn fritter until tonight, but ordered some based on the love they get in reviews. I expected them to be savory, but it was very sweet. Almost like corn doughnuts, which sounds horrendous but it’s actually super good. I just wish the chicken and fries had at least a touch of flavor and this would have been a much better experience.

Finally, I definitely don’t intend to bash the establishment. They’re all very kind people and it’s not that the food was terrible. Half of it was great. I’m just not thrilled with spending close to $50 to only like the side orders.

Excellent atmosphere everyone’s so nice. Better get there early. If you don’t wanna wait it sure does pack up quick. We have the whole catfish pound. It was excellent. I believe I had french fries and they were delicious as well. It has been a long time since I had whole catfish Sure glad we stopped by.

They made a mistake on my pick up order. I called and they owned up immediately and gave me credit for the correct order a few days later. Their Impossible burger was delicious and since I live close, I just found a new favorite place! 💚

The service is wonderful, the outdoor seating is lovely, and it's a cozy place for no-frills, basic, pub food. And it might be one of the last remaining restaurants where you can find a burger under $10.

I enjoyed Schooner's for the vibe and the prices. But, the food wasn't anything special. It was basic and it was satisfying. We ordered a Schooner Burger, with cheese, and a Horseshoe. I didn't dislike it, but it was nothing remarkable.

Would come back, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

If you have a hankering for a pork tenderloin fit to feed four, head straight to Schooner’s. A small bar and dining area greets you with a sports theme and large screen TVs for game viewing. Service is fast and the staff is Uber friendly. The onion rings are heavenly. A light batter fried to crispy perfection. I had the fish sandwich, which had a generous portion of flaky white fish that was deep fried. I had the dinner salad as well, which was disappointing as it only had iceberg lettuce and croutons. It would be nice to have some other vegetables in the salad. My brother had the pork tenderloin, which was gargantuan. He said it was tender inside and crispy outside. My mother opted for the cheeseburger, which had a generous patty on toasted bun. Our bill for 4 sandwiches, an order of onion rings, and two coffees was $85 with 20% tip. Keep in mind that the tenderloins are two full meals and my fish sandwich was enough for two meals as well.

Really good food. I like their breaded tenderloin, but you can feed 4 people. And I also had their appetizer platter. The people that work there are really nice. I'm hoping I get to go back again sometime.

Congratulations on 40 years and for having some of the best wings I've had in a few years. These wings are cooked to perfection then tossed in a fantastic sauce. Great atmosphere with very upbeat and friendly staff. The Italian beef wasn't quite Chicago style it was very tasty though. Enjoy the pictures and remember to smash that like button.

An old tradition of Peoria and a mist stop in at least once. Their tenderloin is enough for 3 and it's a must try. Prices, atmosphere and staff all make this a great place to stop in.......
