This company is the "In house" shipping company for Bonham's auction house. THEY ARE A RIPOFF. They charge $471.09 (including NY Tax) to ship a ROLLED, 14 X 36 Poster to NY. The insurance I was told was $68, so do the math and see how much they charged for shipping. Also this company is a DISGRACE in the way they packaged a vintage movie poster (see photos below). I'm surprised it didn't get damaged. So for about $365 ( I deducted what they said the insurance was and the tax) I got a regular brown box, popcorn Styrofoam thrown in about 1/2 way, then the ROLLED POSTER with about 2 layers of bubble wrap and then more Styrofoam popcorn to fill the box. It was shipped next day saver BUT the price was already set for ground shipping. For the record HERITAGE auction house shipped me a 27 x 41 poster, (40% of this insurance) for $28. From my personal experience I would never use this company for anything. Problem is you don't know the shipping charges till after you pay Bonham's, THEY ARE A RIPOFF.
Problem is that unless you want to risk your item with a 3rd party shipper (someone else picks up your item from Bonham's and ships) you basically have to use this company. When you use a 3rd party shipper, once they pick up from Bonham's then Bonham's has no more responsibility for your item. If anything happens to your item, you have to deal with the 3rd party shipper alone, therefore really for you own protection and to keep Bonham's auction house as responsible until you receive it, you must use this company.
Reached out to the company figuring there was some mistake (maybe the price was under the assumption it was being shipped framed?), spoke to Frank and basically NO HELP OR REASONABLENESS, though I sensed that he knew this was a RIPOFF, SCREWING, ETC.. cause when I asked him if he thought this was fair and right, I got the impression in his voice that he knew this wasn't. Talking to Frank he tried to say well there was an extra $50 charge by Fed Ex cause we shipped for 12/31 delivery. That is non sense cause the price quoted to me was given to me on 12/21 with no shipping date scheduled.
