During the week of 09/16/24, one of Peerless' employees, Tony, came to inspect our fence after we raised some concerns. Tony confirmed that the issues we mentioned were valid, and he assured us he would return on 09/25/24 to address them. True to his word, Tony and another employee showed up that morning and not only fixed the issues we had pointed out but also addressed problems we hadn't noticed, such as multiple pickets and several other crossbars. We were very pleased with the quality of work Tony and his coworker provided. Honestly, I wish Tony had been the one to install the fence in the first place!

One major concern Tony fixed was with our gates. On 09/21, we discovered one of our dogs had been missing for 20 minutes, and we realized the gate had settled so much that it could no longer stay latched. My husband had to adjust the latch just to keep it secure until Tony fixed it. We are extremely grateful for the thorough job Tony did in making everything right!

That said, if you decide to get a fence through Peerless, it may be a good idea to closely monitor the work as it's being installed. I’ve always hated being that type of person and didn’t feel the need to be since I trusted I’d made the right choice with Peerless, but in hindsight, it might have saved some trouble and the sheer panic of loosing our dog for 20 minutes.

It has now been two weeks since we initially posted this review, and neither my husband nor I have heard anything from anyone at Peerless, aside from the reply to this review. It appears that the company is more concerned with securing the initial sale rather than addressing any issues or concerns after the sale. This lack of follow-through is disappointing and does not reflect well on their commitment to customer service.

My husband and I have encountered some issues that have left us quite frustrated with our 6' wood privacy fence that was installed in August of 2023.

Despite having the fence for less than a year, the very first support post that was installed is crooked, and several boards that were installed were already in a state of deterioration. There is a screw that was installed into a picket that doesn’t go into the support post, and the wood is splintered. Two cross beams are crooked, and we have pickets that started cracking by the 6-month mark.

My husband first contacted Katie at Peerless on May 25th and sent photos, which can also be seen in this review. Katie stated that she would have Chuck Ifft, our sales rep, contact us. Katie also made sure to point out that wood products have natural characteristics such as checking, cracking, shrinkage, warping, and weathering. We are both well aware of this as it also states this on the contract. This however was an installation issue. It is now August 16th, and we have yet to hear from Chuck Ifft.

We did not expect to face these problems so soon. We chose Peerless Fence based on their excellent Google reviews and the promises of their warranty. I paid $11,588.00 for our fence and just want the company to follow through on their commitment to quality and customer service.

I am losing hope that Peerless Fence will address these concerns promptly, hence my Google review since we have not been contacted.

We were beyond happy with Peerless and our fence and installation. They came a day early and finished the next day and completely cleaned up the work space. We could tell they took great pride in the installation process making sure everything aligned perfectly. We have worked with Kristi and Chuck on previous fence installations and were confident the job would get done right.

Everyone at Peerless was very responsive when I contacted them. We had an estimate withing 2 days of initial contact. I did find that texting was the best way to initialize contact after we received the quote; even if the text just said to call me. At one time, Chuck and I had a phone call about questions I had at 9:00 PM, because that was when I sent him a text with the questions.

Chuck was easy to work with and honest about any questions we had. He gave us his personal cell number to call if we had questions or concerns. He broke the quote down into 4 parts; one for each side of the fence. This way we could go to the neighbors with pricing so they could pay half of their side. It made a huge difference for the overall cost.

When I contacted the office manager for scheduling, she was responsive, but vague about timing. That is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. I understand weather and a prior job taking longer than anticipated, but regular email updates would be great.

Juan and his crew were amazing. He answered questions, was polite, friendly and they just kept working the entire time they were here. It was very hot and humid the entire time they were here. They did everything exactly how it is supposed to be done and did not cut any corners. They would not even pull in the driveway without asking permission first.
We had problems with replacing one of the old fence posts because of buried power lines. Juan found a way to make that post sturdy, use the new posts to make the rest of the fence sturdy in case of a problem later with that post, and still make it look great. We cannot see the old post at all. If that old post fails, it will not effect the strength of the rest of the fence at all.
The last day, they worked until 7:00 PM to finish the fence. Juan and his crew cleaned up the mess you always get when doing construction at the end of the job. The only thing I had to do when they left was the new landscaping we had put off until we had a new fence.
I can't say enough good things about Juan and his crew. Juan gave us his personal cell number as well.

The only thing that could be better about the whole process is more communication on timing. Chuck said originally it could be 6 - 8 weeks before the fence was done due to their schedule and time to get the material. I would suggest that after 4 weeks, begin a weekly email update just for scheduling.

The neighbors are happy with the fence as well; and you know how hard it is to please the neighbors sometimes. They said it was sturdy and looked great. I know we are no longer embarrassed about the look of our fence and we no longer worry about our dogs getting out. It is easily the best looking fence in the area.

I recommend Peerless in Bloomington to anyone and everyone. We are extremely happy with them. If you decide to work with them, as for Juan and his crew to build the fence.

Fence was done very quickly and was well built. Crew even worked in rain at end to get finished for us.

Peerless started out great. Very responsive and streamlined process of getting an appointment. Chuck was great and very personable! Didn’t take long to get him out to get a quote.

After the contract was signed, however, this project went off the rails. The 7-9 week lead time was not met and any updates provided on this project was due to me reaching out to the company asking for updates.

I was finally given an installation date but come the day of installation the Peerless crew came out, decided it was too cold, and left. I had heard multiple times from office staff that as long as the weather was 10 degrees or higher the crews worked. When I inquired with Katie, she informed me hours later that there would be a crew the following day first thing.

The ‘new’ crew assigned to my project didn’t show until 4pm the following day. They came back the following morning and completed the job (6 hours total). The new crew was subcontracted out from Chicago. No issues with that, however, it’d be nice to be provided a heads up that a job is sub-contracted out instead of having trucks show up with no visible company markings.

The fence installation had multiple careless issues. The Amigos Fencing crew put all trash in posts, installed broken, dented, and scratched pieces, and installed the handles on the double gate an inch off of one another.

Getting anyone to respond from Peerless after this install was nearly impossible. Weeks later after no communication from
Katie a different subcontracted crew randomly showed up at my house. Nothing was fixed correctly or at all.

I continued to inquire with Katie at the Bloomington office and never heard back. After I had communicated I would pay for the remaining half of the project after the fence was fixed, I received over 3 calls and emails.

It wasn’t until Nola from accounting reached out to a regional manager (Kristen) that ANYTHING got done. Once Kristen got involved I quickly had a crew out that was very thorough and fixed everything correctly.

Overall, I have a fence now that I love but the process and communication was nothing but hand holding. This process took from August of 2023 until the end of February 2024 when the fence was finally fixed. If I had a do over, I’d likely not use this company again.

I love the fence but there were some communication issues that could have been better. The crew worked in bitter cold weather and did a good job, but could have policed the area better when they were done. By paying attention to some details, I would have rated them as outstanding. As is, I still rate the fence and workmanship as very good.

I've used Peerless Fence several times and they are always fantastic and on top of things. They are almost always done in a single day. Chuck Ifft is a great manager to make things happen. You won't be sorry! 🙂

Juan and his crew did an outstanding job on my privacy fence! It looks so good and I’m impressed with how quickly they got it done too. Kristi was also great to work with and made the whole process so easy. Thank you, Peerless Fence!
