Noisiest place I have ever lived. Most of the noise I don't care about; the loud traffic on North Washington Street is like white noise to me, the frequent sirens from the fire department a block away only last a few moments, and the barking dogs of neighbors are infrequent. My upstairs neighbor's thunderous footsteps, however, drive me insane. I first tried talking to my upstairs neighbor in 408, and then I tried submitting a formal complaint, but nothing changed. Rather, management treated me as though it's just me. "Maybe you just can't live under anyone?" Tina questioned as if I hadn't lived under people before. Well, here are a couple recordings of my upstairs neighbor stomping around so that you can judge for yourself. Listen with headphones. It's not just banging. They're walking through the apartment, and I hear similar stomping every day. I've sent management recordings that they then dismissed, so this is acceptable noise here despite them boasting about how quiet things are due to the concrete slabs that are supposedly between floors.

On the topic of concrete between floors, Keah & TIna appear to have been lying about this. They both told me that there is concrete between the floors, and Tina even mentioned that this was one of the main selling points of this place. Well, that's odd since the website for SK&A engineering, which worked on the building, explicitly states the that upper floors use wood framing. Between that and the loud footsteps from upstairs, I wouldn't believe the leasing office's claims about the residential floors having concrete between them.

If you're at all bothered by noise, be it traffic, sirens, or stomping, avoid Northgate at all costs. It's simply not worth it.

Feb 06 2025 Update: Despite a response from a month ago claiming that I'd be contacted by upper management, it never happened. Just a hollow gesture. To be clear, this review wasn't posted with the hopes that management would actually lift a finger; it's a warning to prospective tenants.

I have lived here since July 2022 and it's such an amazing place to call home. The staff (concierges, leasing, and maintenance) are super friendly and helpful and they have regular resident events that are a lot of fun. The other residents are really nice and it's a very dog-friendly community. It's also convenient that there are businesses on the first floor, like Cafe Kindred. The one down side is the elevators do break down on a somewhat frequent basis. Otherwise, it's a wonderful place to live!

We love every inch of Northgate. Our apartment is spacious, clean, well-lit, with a great price for the pristinene, state-of-the-art bathrooms and wonderful kitchen. We even have a balcony! Tina was so accommodating and helpful during the move-in process, and the apartment is very conveniently located.

I’ve had a great experience so far since I moved to Northgate! Thanks to Tina and the concierge, I fell in love with the apartment building even before seeing my unit. The application process was smooth and the team was very supportive during my move-in. Proximity to the metro and DC is a plus which makes the quality of life better.

Had a wonderful experience with the Northgate leasing and concierge teams. My husband and I were under a tight timeline to find a place and move in. Tina with the leasing office worked quickly with us to secure us a unit and get the lease processed. The concierge team was unbelievably kind and helpful in getting us moved in. You can tell that everyone here genuinely cares about the residents and doing an excellent job. We have loved our unit so far and are happy to call Northgate home!

Ever since the management team changed, the service here has been a disaster. Recently, I had a terrifying experience with the elevator. While using it, the elevator suddenly dropped multiple times, then ascended, only to drop again. This happened repeatedly between floors and felt extremely unsafe. I immediately reported the incident via email, but the next morning, I was shocked to see the elevator still in use without any apparent repairs.

On top of that, I noticed that the elevator inspection certificate expired in April of this year, and it seems like no maintenance has been conducted since. This negligence is not only unacceptable but dangerous. I sincerely hope management takes these safety concerns seriously before someone gets hurt.

I contacted the leasing office and got blamed.

I've lived here 6 months now and I love it. Yes, it's expensive but at least you get your money's worth. My 1-bed apartment is big and well-built. Management is very responsive (i.e. they replaced my fridge within 24 hours of my request) and the concierge is clutch for packages.

Location is fantastic. Surrounded by neighborhoods and small streets, traffic is light. My commute to Tysons is never more than 30 minutes and the Metro station is only a half-mile walk. It really is like living in a small town with all the benefits of the DMV.

The only real issue is noise. The fire station is 2 blocks away and if your apartment faces the street like mine, you'll hear every fire truck. Even with windows shut. Besides a couple sirens though, it's very quiet.

Also, a new company bought the building in Summer 2017 so any reviews before then might be outdated.

The review is for the leasing consultant experience. Tina and her team did a great job facilitating our move in. She retained excellent communication with us and answered our questions in a timely manner. The overall process was much less tedious given her attention to detail. Expect the usual volume of required info sharing, but know that the leasing office does a solid job helping you apply.
