Nice store with a wide selection of new and used outdoor gear. I found exactly what I needed at a really fair price. That said, the staff member who "helped" offered the most hilariously apathetic service I think I've ever had. A sample of our interactions:

Me: "Hey there, do you have a second?"
Staff: ..silence...
Me: "Cool, well, I was wondering you had any suggestions on ski conditions"?
Staff: "No"

Me: "Hey there, is there a bathroom?"
Staff: "No"

Literally every question got the single word answer of "No". I get it, it's retail, and dealing with annoying customers isn't much fun, but most people manage to fake a little kindness. I ended up leaving the store with a smile on my face, but it was more because of the absurdity of the situation than anything else.

Anyway, great shop, but if you go in, don't expect to be treated like a human being. Just get your stuff and get out.

Great used gear finds can be made here- I always make it a go to stop when in the area. Good selection of used skis with bindings, backcountry skis, skins, camping gear and outdoor apparel at great prices on consignment. You can also have them sell your gear.
They also have new gear. Highly recommended. A local gem.

These types of places are the best. Places like the gear exchange are the place to get the $800 boots for $80, a frankly cheaper way to demo different gear, and not spend thousands on gear. Andrew was great but all the employees were super cool.

The go-to spot for all things gear & clothing. The selection is solid and is constantly changing to keep the options fresh and new. The staff rules too, big shout out to Ian for always going above and beyond. His knowledge and helpfulness make the experience even better:)

This store is extremely pretentious

GOOD: Visually this store is very nice, when you walk in you feel like this is a place you want to be at! There are lots of options for whatever type of outdoor sport you want indulge in as well.
BAD: I don’t know how their pricing works, but many items I would just rather buy new and I did not find their sales to be worth much. Furthermore there was a moment where one worker was talking down to another. It felt like one was being very contrarian and it was really awkward. Finally another work was very tense on if we needed help or not.

In the end we decided not to get anything based on these interactions and would rather buy new, online, or go to garage sales.

Gear exchange in Bishop is a blast- tons of new and used(consignment )gear-including books, maps, camping stuff, bikes, ski gear, climbing gear, car camping, ice skates, and everything in between. The used gear ranges from beat up to very nice, and it's packed to the gills w stuff. The folks here are always knowledgeable and friendly & there seems to be a general friendly banter going on.Love this place!!
