Negative stars, absoulte WORST service entirely. Social worker Connor Giddings never answers but had time to update his voicemail to say the days he'd be out for the holidays then changed it back to his original voicemail but still can't call back or even answer once. It's been almost 3 months since we've been in progress for benefits and still nothing. Don't pick a SOCIAL SERVICE job if you want nothing to do with social and communication. Absolutely pathetic these "workers" are, they don't even work or do their job.

Can't get any help, when they say they will call back they don't. To get you off the line as quickly as possible they will "transfer your call" just to be hung up on or sent to a voice mail.

Been waiting over a month for my husband and I’s EBT. No one picks up their phones. Been told by the desk people that everyone telecommutes. I’ve left message after message. I get that these people have up to 48 hours to respond but we are going waaaay over that time frame at this point. The staff that do answer phones are so rude too. I’m already anxious and food insecure, I don’t need the heavy sighs and annoyed tones when I ask y’all to please do your jobs. If y’all don’t want to actually work, leave the job and let someone that actually cares and needs income have a shot.

Edit
Just got of the phone with them. Was hung up on for being ‘abusive’. I didn’t raise my voice, name call, cuss, or use profanity. If stating that something is unprofessional is abusive then yikes.

I'll admit it's been a long time since I've attempted to go to this. Went to get foodstamps to supplement my income while I was a student worker something like 15 years ago. Why am I rating now? Because all you'll hear is the same disgruntled and uncaring staff. Now, they have to deal with a very mixed bag of people that I don't envy. That's why I blame management and always will. They're gonna treat their employees with bare minimum care. Understaffed, under qualified, and people who don't have the energy to care. Never expect anything to be taken care of with any kind of timely manner. No one wants to be here. Workers or clients alike.

I had a bad experience with an Intake Worker, in the Lake County Department of Social Services, last Wednesday. The Intake Worker treated me with Disrespect.

Lake County social services create trauma with a perfect blend of incompetence and ill will. They destroy lives. Soulless drones.

People are treated respectfully, unless the worker starts feeling like they are getting the "bully" treatment. Treat as you want to be treated. It works.
It wasn't very busy in the lobby area, and I only had to wait 15 to 20 minutes before being called to a window. Service was professional and polite. Having some unusual account problems didn't even prolong or interfere with any time restraints of the speedy visit. For my first experience at Lake County Dept of Soc Svcs, I was pleasantly impressed. -Lori-
PS: Their phone receptionists service sucks...always sounding angry or as if we were interrupting their work. I would recommend a personal visit.
