I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kamakura Japanese Restaurant in Los Gatos, and it was a wonderful experience. We ordered the Salmon Teriyaki and a selection of their sushi rolls, and I was impressed with the quality of the food. The salmon teriyaki was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. As for the sushi, it was fresh, well-prepared, and delicious. Each bite reflected the care and attention that went into its preparation.

The restaurant itself is very clean and inviting, creating a pleasant atmosphere for dining. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Their warm service truly added to the overall experience.

Kamakura is definitely a spot I would highly recommend to anyone looking for quality Japanese food in Los Gatos. Whether you’re craving sushi or a hot meal like their teriyaki dishes, you won’t be disappointed. It’s a place I’ll be happy to return to!

I came here with my 5 day old newborn and husband on Saturday to reunite with my beloved raw fish after 9 arduous months. The hostess saw our stroller and refused to seat us indoors stating our stroller would be an impediment to patron traffic, even though the restaurant was 3/4 empty and closing in 1 hour. I asked again to be seated indoors at a table out of others way and she was adamant she could not. I left in tears and went to an infinitely better Yokohana <2 minute walk away. I would urge any mamas, and moreover families to avoid this place and spare yourself such unpleasant and unnecessary interactions with people who haven’t the faintest idea what service means.

It is kind of expensive but that is to be expected due to the location. The sushi is good and I like their selection of rolls

It was very crowded on a nice Saturday afternoon, both indoor and outdoor seating was packed but they quickly found us a table! I had their traditional Jaoanese Bento box with Saba Shioyaki & Salmon Sashimi combo and my husband enjoyed the Sashimi Sampler.

Summer 2021. Walking with my husband along Santa Cruz ave. to have lunch in another restaurant and we decided to change the option: The almost 93F were perfect for sushi. We sat outside under the gallery ordered Edamame, Hawaiian poke California roll and Philadelphia roll. The service was fast and smiling, the prices were good. I highly recommend this place, probably coming back this weekend.

Sushi was very good. Sat outside on a beautiful spring day. Service was very fast. They had my roll out within about 4 minutes. Couldn’t believe it. Sashimi was great, too, but the pieces were personally too big for me to eat. Should have been cut in half. Having said that, I’ll go back next time I want sushi in Los Gatos. Give it a try and judge for yourself.

The nigiri salmon had a lot of white fat on it and was too thick so it was hard to bite with too little rice under it. The ratio was way off. The gyoza itself was pretty good but the sauce didn’t have much/any flavor compared to other sushi locations we’ve been to. The rolls were mediocre. Too large to eat comfortably, lacking flavor and not super fresh. Can’t complain with the amount of food but not impressed with the quality. Unfortunately we won’t be returning.

Delicious food and great service. We sat outside on a warm day & it was very quaint & quiet. The sushi was delicious & also huge! Great prices for the amount of food received. Will be coming back again!
