Radiators too hot to touch and heat can’t be regulated. Dirty back stairs, never cleaned or snow swept. Cheapest cabinetry and the bathtub is disgusting, scarred and rusted. One poorly installed air conditioner for three rooms. The kitchen sink is faulty and of the poorest quality. Antifreeze was added to the radiator system during this past winter smelled strongly. Before renting here, make sure to read all the reviews, filtering by the newest ones. This company goes by three different names, free plan management, oak park apartments, and mastercare building service. Also look at the number of hearts and like these negative reviews have received. Thank me later. I regret not doing this myself. The leasing agent, Marcus, is seemingly a nice guy but they will rent you cockroach infested apartment/building.

I strongly advise against renting from this place. I recently moved into one of the apartments and discovered it’s infested with cockroaches. In my 10 years of renting in Chicago, I’ve never encountered a single cockroach. After informing the landlord, they scheduled pest control 10 days out. Only when I reminded them of my right to a habitable living environment, they moved the appointment up but Scheduling a pest control isn’t even the issue. The problem here is they are renting roach/mice/rat infested apartments. I spoke with one of the residents and she said she’s seen many mice in her unit and told me that I was lucky to have cockroach problem.

Of course the staff at Oak Park Apartments are well aware of the infestation. The pest control technician seemed all too familiar with the problem, even treating the laundry room and asking me of sighting of mice which makes me think they've dealt with this issue before. AND MICE..I’m scared. The pest control cost the landlord $40. What a joke! Of course they did the cheapest and the minimalist treatment. This is why the problem has perpetuated.

What’s worse, the lease has no buy-out option. The staff here lacks any ethics or consciousness. Also just read the rude responses from the landlord for other negative reviews. Maybe I’m stuck for 12 months but they will not stay in business much longer renting roach/mice/rate infested apartments. Just look at the pages and pages of empty apartments. This is bad for public health, residents health, their business, and the village of oak park deterring people from moving here.

Also I advise other tenants who are unlucky like me stuck here to report them to BBB and the Village of Oak Park for any issues you’re having. This way there is a formal paper trail.

I’m seeing reviews about discrimination. If you face discrimination, in addition to leaving a comment here, report to BBB.

Had multiple packages stolen by people who lived in the building and they did nothing
Then kicked me out and gave no reason and hid behind a supposed law saying they don’t have to tell the reason why.

3 stars bc the lady of the house rallies for us little people... but many of the staff has a lot to be desired.

A woman checking each apartment meters just walked all over a clean yoga mat that I already pulled out of the way with OUTSIDE SHOES ON. This was careless ( and Gross) and is also an indication of how the rest of the following paragraph will go...

There is LOUD construction UNDER MY BEDROOM that starts at 6am (cant be bothered to start at a human waking hour? 9am?) which GREENPLAN DID NOT warn residents about and is monumentally more than a mere faucet drip disturbance... there is no insulation between floors... So, it is EARTH SHATTERING... between that and the partying that can happen late into the night in the downstairs businesses, nobody will get sleep some days... Then there are the bikes which were stolen from the "safety" of the laundry room that nobody heard about for the 15th time. 🥲

We will probably have to move from our home of 6 years because nobody wants to do anything about any of this.
