We hired Daniels to move a historic antique grand piano into the Essex County Meeting House. The two movers, James & Logan, are professionals and certainly knew how to properly move a grand piano. They were careful, courteous and we can say that Daniels Moving is very qualified at moving a valuable piano.

I don’t often write lengthy reviews, but there’s a lot to unpack here and if you’re considering hiring this company, it’s worth a read. But if you’d like the nutshell version… I wouldn’t let them pack my groceries!

Our family moved from FL to VT and between my wife, my brother and myself, we packed a 28’ trailer full and everything arrived with no damaged items.

We hired Daniel’s Moving/NEMM to pack two 28’ trailers and in the end, they caused an estimated $4k-$6k worth of damages to our belongings. It’s ā€œestimatedā€ because we’ve yet to receive the final invoice for some of our belongings that are being repaired.

In all, the Daniel’s Moving/NEMM crew showed up to our house… We told the crew that we rented two 28’ trailers and even though we were renting them by the foot, that we had no problem with them using every inch of both trailers, as long as our belongings were safe. They loaded boxes with RED arrows pointing up, upside down. Boxes with 4-6 ā€œFRAGILEā€ stickers on them were packed on the bottom of stacks with boxes marked ā€œHEAVYā€ on top.

They packed things that we asked them repeatedly NOT to pack. A box with my Mother’s ashes in it, along with her fragile electronics (iPhone and MacBook) was loaded upside down and at the bottom of a heavy stack.

One crew member injured himself by accepting a bet of another crew member to lift ALL of my wife’s weights at the same time, the owner (Fred Allard) called me asking why one of his guys was at the ER and then said that if my wife and I didn’t write out statements, that we/our insurance could be liable.

After all of this, Fred Allard told us that because we didn’t hire them to drive our belongings to next destination, that they are not liable. When I requested that he just file the claim with insurance, he told me that it could take up to 6 months and that it would likely be denied. After a month, I reached out for an update and was told that he had been busy with personal things and that he would file it. A week later we asked for the claim number and that’s when he began ignoring us and we haven’t heard from him since.

This company is a great moving company. Definitely recommend! Was able to move a safe in a timely manner and actually answered the phone when you called to inquire. They’re reasonably priced and very efficient. They did everything right and we will definitely use them again!

Wow, they were amazing! I called on a Friday to help move a very heavy object up the stairs, and they were there Sunday. Very efficient, no damage to floors or stairs, and friendly. I highly recommend them.

I was a repeat customer of Daniel’s Moving as I contracted their services to help unload storage units into my new home when I moved to Vermont. During my first transaction with them, they were polite, orderly, and seemed to know what they were doing. My items were not broken and I felt they did a pretty good job. When I wanted to move out of Vermont, I didn’t think twice about calling them to help me load my Upack trailers.

My experience the second time around has been vastly different than the first. My husband and I packed all of our belongings, and their job was to load it safely onto the trucks in a way that would not be damaged during transit. Although they were supposed to, they did not bring moving blankets or any packing supplies. We were told they would pack anything we had not but to bear in mind we were paying by the hour. We still had plenty of packing supplies such as bubble wrap, tape, and blankets to use. None of our stuff was protected anymore than what we had already done. We specifically instructed their crew lead, Logan, to take as much space between the two 28ft trailers as needed. We would rather pay for space than to replace our stuff. We drew arrows on boxes that needed to be faced in a certain direction. We went through a lot of effort packing our stuff well. With this premise… these are the significant issues we had:

1. During the load, while the crew had good spirits for such a large job they were reckless to the extent that one caused himself injury on my property with my workout equipment. I had a weight lifting bar and rubber weights. One worker decided to load all the weights equalling around 420lbs, then walk it on to the loading ramps and all the way into the truck. If that wasn’t enough, he challenged another guy to lift it who injured his back and left to go to the ER. If THAT was not enough, the owner of the moving company called me and wanted to know what was going on with his guys. I was inside packing and loading- had no idea what was going on. I had to stop what I was doing to answer the owners plea to write a statement saying that no one had instructed the kid to have a weightlifting competition on a trailer during a customer’s move. My husband and I both had to write one ā€œso they don’t file against my home insuranceā€ per Fred Allard, the moving company owner. How absolutely insane?! I hired a company with a bunch of people who could have broken my stuff and hurt themselves then sue me for it? Supposedly the kid decided against filing workman’s comp and life moved on, but I have enough stress with a move and should not have to deal with such unprofessional behaviors.

2. When we went to close the trailers, it was immediately evident that these guys did not abide by our wishes. We saw boxes with fragile stickers at the bottom of stacks. Boxes with arrows pointed up that were upside down. We bought totes specifically for this move because they were stronger than boxes. Those totes were upside down and every which way. I called the owner at that point to express my concerns that we loaded boxes to be stacked in a certain direction not flipped every way. He stated that with trailers measured by the sqft have a typical practice of trying to utilize every available sqft. I understood that but we explicitly stated to not do that. His retort was that his guys check totes for liquids to ensure flipping them would not cause issues. I advised the owner that it would be a good practice to contact customers prior to loads and advise them of these practices, because I don’t know anyone who packs a box to be stacked upside down, let alone totes.
3. When our trailers arrived in North Carolina, piece by piece we peeled back the damaged belonging. Heirloom grandfather clocks, dressers, dining room chairs, computer chairs, crushed totes, crushed boxes. All because they didn’t listen to us when we said please use the space.

The owner has since ghosted us. Fred has also refused to respond to BBB. What’s he have to hide?Stay far away from these guys!

They helped me with a move from northern Vermont to western Pennsylvania. Great folks. Communication was stellar from first contact through the final sign off on delivery. Impressive packing and handling of all my worldly goods - down some awful stairs no less. Worth every penny. I hope to never ever ever move again, but if I did, I would go with them again.
