Berkeley Bowl is hands down one of the best grocery stores in the Bay Area. When I lived in Berkeley, it was my go-to spot for fresh produce—the variety and quality are simply unmatched. Probably my favorite grocery store in the entire Bay Area. Unmatched options for fresh produce. Literally 15 different kinds of mushrooms! Also tons of asian and indian groceries and amazing cheese and butter selections. Plus fresh bread from nearby bakeries everyday. It is a little pricey, but worth every penny.

Their hot foods are also great. 10/10 store.

I go here twice a week. The produce is incredible in terms of quality and selection. I usually buy a vegan bran muffin for breakfast and the vegan tacos for lunch. Can't say enough good things about Berkeley Bowl. It's near Ashby BART and Tarea Hall Pittman Library

5/20/25: The watermelon prices are expensive at Berkeley Bowl and always a gamble what you will actually get once you bring it home (unsweetened, overripe or rotten) but i really wanted one and thought it was $0.58 a pound which is extremely high priced but again i really wanted one but came home to see i paid $15.10 at $1.09 a pound and went back less than 90 minutes later and even though the supervisor or manager (tall guy with dark hair) verified it was not $1.09 a pound but actually $0.69 a pound; he was unpleasant. The supervisor or manager did not even apologize but seemed to be in a rush. I was reimbursed the difference in price and the watermelon ended up not being that good for that price but i have noticed some of the staff can be rude and short with customers.

A great supermarket with an amazing variety and selection of everything! Take banana for example, they carry more than 10 kinds of bananas. They also have some mushrooms that I, as a mushroom lover, never knew before!

Sushi there was tasty too! Believe it or not, way better than some sushi buffet or warehouse sushi.
