I lived here for over two years and am no longer a resident due to unresolved issues. I did not leave reviews while a tenant because I was working in good faith to resolve the issues. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful.

The five star reviews you see are solicited by management from new tenants to leave glowing reviews after being starstruck by the nice marina views and expansive amenities after moving in. I admit, I was one of these people. The community is in a great location and features new construction with high end finishes and great views!

Many other reviewers comment on the noise between floors and “crime” which never bothered me. If you’re going to live in a dense low rise apartment, you’re signing up for these inevitable issues.

AMLI is a reputable developer and company. What did bother me was what local management COULD control and CHOSE not to.

If you look at the website and tour the community, amenities are part of the value proposition. Look very closely. You’ll find fire pits that don’t work, damaged furniture, dirty restrooms, unkempt grills, TVs that don’t work, burnt out lightbulbs, broken furniture, spills that sit for days, no soap in restrooms, gym not cleaned effectively for days, debris in corridors, filthy trash rooms, etc. These aren’t one offs - they are chronic issues that go unresolved for weeks. This is what you’ll experience day to day. Management feels anyone who brings these issues to their attention are entitled and impatient.

The GM who clearly responds to Google reviews has a defensive posture tending to be aloof, reactive, and complacent. Just read a few responses to get a flavor of the culture. What they don’t do is walk their own building, despite living in it, making it even more inexcusable.

Rest assured, if you provide feedback that everyone else BUT this individual is to blame - hourly staff, residents, vendors, the public, and the rest. Leadership is the problem. Not the folks who work here who were always super responsive and helpful, especially when something in my home needed attention.

If you’re paying this amount you should expect a safe and well maintained community with a proactive manager. I chose to move because they couldn’t handle basic upkeep and didn’t really care after 2+years.

I was just another number and they’re counting on you to just appreciate the views and lower your expectations. If you are willing to overlook this and pay a premium you may love it. It’s clear many do. Otherwise, look elsewhere!

Update - the response which doesn’t even property interpret the review and is full of meaningless jargon like “five star” is the same, frustrating tone-deaf communication you can expect. Management absolutely solicits reviews from residents.

I lived at AMLI for 3 years in a 3 bedroom. I also have a boat at the Marina. The maintenance staff at AMLI are great and much love to all of them.

The issue is the management and people working in that office. The moment you sign that lease, they change their tone and treat you like an inmate. They hate you for being there.

If you have any issues, or questions, or requests... forget about it. It'll be months or years before they resolve it.

WATCH OUT!

This place has it all. It is new, the staff are well trained except the security people that don’t know anything. Lots of possibilities for entertainment. Restaurant within walking distance.
I come here from a 10 million dollar house and I am just as happy.
The best.

I appreciate how helpful my leasing agent Gracie was to assist in the application process. Her and the leasing office were quick to address any questions I had. It's only been about a month and with all the coordinating of moving things in and deliveries, the process has been pretty easy. I look forward to exploring all the AMLI Marina Del Rey has to offer as time goes on.

Gorgeous, luxurious living space. The architecture of AMLI housing is posh whilst being highly functional and structurally elevated. Had a great time visiting.

Love living here and the haste with which problems are solved. Had a leak in our apartment and the AMLI team handled it quickly, with professionalism and were very communicative. I feel very taken care of!

Downstairs neighbor keeps banging on the ceiling on purpose when we're asleep to wake us up and harasses us and made lewd comments. This is not general apartment living noise, this is malicious and intentional harassment.

Security patrol does not pick up the phone to resolve the issue, as they don't work nights, which is generally when crime and security events happen. Management also does not resolve the issues, and just offers to have us move at our own cost even though the neighbors are the ones causing the issues. There also was a robbery in the parking lot, but they haven't increased security at night.

EDIT: they keep taking away amenities. First the building next to the water, then the club room, and now the other club room (spoke + wheel). No amenities are left anymore. Additionally, Spectrum is leaving the building and you're stuck with gigstreem, which is known for week long internet outages.

The maintenance is horrible and follow up for work is even worse. Nobody takes matters seriously at AMLI Marina Del Rey, whether it's contaminated water in the bathtub or an A/C that doesn't work for weeks and clearly needs to be replaced. The turnaround time is slower than a Sec 8 property. If they would just be honest and say they won't fix things properly it would make matters smoother and then just allow residents to hire their own handyman and contractors. But they don't even allow you to do that. So you're at the mercy of people who resemble Slum Lords in the manner in which they conduct business. However...the amenities are nice and it's great to be near the ocean..
