If I could give this place a 0 I would. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE!! I cannot even begin to express the disgust and disappointment I have for this place.

My 95 year old grandmother was placed here after a back procedure for rehab. EVERY SINGLE review left before mine is 100000% accurate. I gave Baylee the benefit of the doubt in hopes that it changed because she told me people tend to leave bad reviews before good ones. I would have left a good one if it was a good facility. I will say, I observed my Gram do PT and I will give the PT department the credit they deserve for the work they did with her, and the other residents who were there at the time. No complaints there.

Grams only been in there 5 days and its been nothing chaos. I pushed the nurse call button, (on multiple occasions) and it take 45 min to an hour for someone to come in and assist her. All while they sit around the nurses station, or on the computers just out side the nurse station making themselves look busy (playing/texting on their cellphones). When in reality, there are more than a dozen call lights going off they ignore. They wear their earbuds and talk on the phone while with patients, (in my opinion that's a HIPPA violation if they are talking about medical info with the person they are caring for. And the people on the phone hear it. Or at minimum a breach of confidentiality)

-It is a shared room, no privacy for your loved ones.
-It reeks of urine and feces.
-It is outdated and looks like a scene from the Shining. And that's giving it a compliment.

They DO NOT push the residents to and from the lunch room, in turn, my Gram re-injured her back from straining to push herself with her feet in her wheel chair back to the room to the point of her being in tears because of the pain.

-They don't give you pain meds unless you ask for them, which is fair enough, but they don't ask if she is in pain at all when they EVENTUALLY visit the room.
-When they do give meds, they don't make sure all the pills were taken. My uncle found a pill on my grams bed that fell out of the cup.

This of course all happened over the weekend when administration is not in the building so I didn't get to make a complaint until Monday February 3rd, 2025.

I tried to see Baylee when I was there but she had just got there when I didand she had to settle in, and then she did come looking for me but we just missed each other. By the time I was leaving she was busy in meetings and such. She did call me in a timely manner (which I appreciate) to discuss my concerns. She told me she would let the nurse manager know all of the issues I had.

I thought great, maybe they will actually do something about it....oh they did something about it alright....they let my Gram soil her pants. TWICE! She pushed the call button and waited a nearly an hour BOTH TIMES. And both times she had to sit in her own fecal matter. It got all over her, all over her binder. She felt like she smelled like it. She was embarrassed.

I called Baylee back today (Tue Feb 4th 2025) and expressed what happened. And I got the standard I'll tell the nurse manager your concerns.

Well, I do not have high hopes for a phone call back or anything to change. EDIT TO ADD as of 420pm on February 4th, Baylee called me back and said "The staff was talked to and they said it wasn't an hour....and that I should get my Gram a clock because she thought it was an hour and was confused!" The absolute nerve of her. I WAS PERSONALLY THERE the other times the call button was pushed and it was FORTY FIVE MINUTES for someone to respond, so if my gram says it was an hour, it was an hour!

I have 1 job, and that is to be an advocate and make sure my Grandmother (and family) gets the best possible care. They have 1 job as a facility, and that is to give her (and the other residents) the the best care that she (they) need(s). Sadly, they are not even giving subpar care.

If this review can help 1 person than I did my job. Keep your loved ones safe. Don't send them here!!!

Recently, my wife was admitted to Alden Estates of Orland for some therapy after a brief hospital stay. We were impressed by the care that she received by the nursing and therapy staffs, as they each showed my wife personal attention and respect.
While there, we learned of Alden Estates' designation as "5 Star Quality Measures" Skilled Nursing Facility.
One extra special note, was the near-restaurant quality of the meals that Chef Mario and his staff prepared and served.

If your loved one needs to be cared for in anyway DO NOT place them at this facility because they will be neglected. The staff, nurses, and director lack skillset and empathy and will allow your love one to perish after being neglected.

My mother had a miserable experience at Alden Estates of Orland Park. She was there for a few months and her experience was disappointing.

I witnessed a medication error (she was given an intravenous antibiotic prescribed for a different patient). On a number of occasions, she would press her call button requesting help and would get a response 2+ hours later. The room she stayed in had poor temperature control - it was extremely warm and she was uncomfortable most of her stay because of this. My mother had a tracheostomy and was ventilator dependent and I witnessed the respiratory therapist use non-sterile technique when suctioning. At one point, the oral suction catheter dropped to the floor, was picked up, and used to suction my mother. She developed a pneumonia and was transferred to a local hospital for treatment. This facility needs respiratory therapists trained in giving safe and competent respiratory care for its patients. This includes proper hand hygiene and aseptic technique when handling patients with tracheostomies.

The positives of her time at Alden Estates of Orland Park include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and the dietary team. They were terrific in every way. The administrators seemed genuinely concerned and empathic when we voiced our concerns but I’m not hopeful any positive change will take place.

They have nice things for residents who are lucid and mobile. They have gathering rooms and dinner service and generally try to create a reasonably decent atmosphere. The physical therapists are excellent.
For residents who are not lucid or have dementia, the care is what it is. As in most places, it seems understaffed, and there are some dirty diapers hanging out. I found myself taking care of other residents sometimes. Nurses and physical therapists are excellent, but the other staff is poor in attitude, response, and burned out. One should expect to shower and take care of their own family from time to time. Dementia patients are not going to get individualized care. It is simply a warehouse, as most are.

First, it smells like urine. Everywhere!
My elderly mother was admitted after a heart surgery. She was extremely weak and was still in a wheel chair. When the ambulatory driver brought her she had to use the bathroom, so I asked for a walker for her to use the bathroom and they didn’t have any. Thankfully I was there to assist her. She needed to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. No one came to get her. She kept calling us at home. We couldn’t get a hold of anyone. Showed up at 7am to her lying in her own urine. Needless to say we took her home immediately…

My mother has been here quite sometime. And this place needs to be closed down!!! I don't know how the state is still allowing this facility to be opened! No nursing staff at times, we have to call the police on several occasions to do wellness checks on our mother, because they refuse to answer the phone. My mother is on oxygen, they refuse to refill her tank!! I had to call 911 to send her out!! Someone is paying the state!!!

Worst place ever after 4 days had to call ambulance for her dehydrated and had uti place had no wipes and was cleaning her with paper towels she was raw couldn’t even talk couldn’t even take a drink was shaking so bad wasn’t giving the right meds …!!!!
I could go on and on !!!! 1 nurse has 25 patients WTH!!! Things they don’t tell you and when we were leaving said we hold her room for 10 days ! Huh don’t bother never coming back here!!
