I've always liked shopping at Ace Hardware because the staff are usually friendly and super helpful. It's a great spot to grab supplies and get advice for my DIY projects. I think this personal touch is what helps Ace stand out against bigger stores like Lowe's and Home Depot.

However, my experiences at this Northeast location have been a bit of a mixed bag. While some employees, like "Emily", are fantastic and really eager to help, I’ve also run into a few who were quite rude.

For example, one Saturday, I approached a woman in the paint section—she had blue hair (I have nothing against blue hair), but I can’t remember her name. I greeted her with a smile and tried to explain what I needed, but she was really short with me and even rolled her eyes when I struggled to find the right words. It felt like she didn’t want to be bothered at all. While she mixed my paint, I said, “I guess this will take about 15 minutes, so I'll just walk around.” She snapped back, “Yeah, you know I just got here!” I was really taken aback by her response, especially since I was just trying to be polite. I had to do a self-check to think I if had behaved or said anything that would invite her treatment. At any rate, I kept my mouth shut.

Another time, my daughter wanted to get some car keys duplicated. "Jessica" was at the counter, and it seemed like she was having a hard time getting it done. After waiting patiently for about an hour and a half, my daughter asked how much longer it would take so she could plan her day. Jessica snapped, “If you saw what I’m seeing here, you wouldn’t be asking that question!” It was disappointing to see such a lack of professionalism. My daughter was too shocked to say anything as well.

I'm patient with service industry workers, as I lead one myself. This "ghetto" demeanor is not acceptable at all, especially in this part of town! Disrespectful...If Ace wants to keep customers coming back, they really need to address this. I've spent thousands of dollars in this location, but going forward, I’m not going back. I'll just go to Lowe's or Home Depot from now on - not as friendly as Emily, but 'would receive more predictable service.

Recently placed two orders and both were cancelled within seconds of placing. I decided to call the store and Henry from gardens was extremely rude and unprofessional. He kept talking over me and assumed I was asking if they had the items I was looking for, which I knew they did as a different associate had already confirmed this for me before transferring me. Only after repeated interruptions, I had to speak over him to explain I already knew they had what I needed and that I only needed them to hold the items for me as I would be heading in person to pick up and pay for in person. I also mentioned to him that I had another order that was successful but that the ones I needed were not and were canceled and that that’s the reason I was calling. To make sure I’d be able to pick up the ones in question in person. He then rudely said they’d only be able to hold until the day of the day, to which i responded that I’d be heading over shortly after the call. I was placed on hold and when he came back, he said he had only found one of the two items I was inquiring about. BOTH items were confirmed in stock by previous employees before the transfer. Regardless I didn’t argue and agreed to this and waited for a response back but there was nothing. So I then asked him to please hold the item in the front so when I head in the store it’d be easier for me to pay for the item, pick up my successful mobile order and asked for him name. I then repeated it back to him to make sure I had heard it correctly and he then rudely responded “yeah it’s Henry.” before hanging up the phone. Never have I experienced such customer service before. I know the standard as I am a federal government employee. Ace do better. Train your employees better.

They helped me fix a couple of strings of Christmas lights even though they were past the warranty date. The lady at the returns counter spent 20 or so minutes working on them and managed to get 1 strand working again. Very thoughtful friendly service

This is the biggest Ace Hardware i had ever seen. It had eveything. I bought some PVC to replace a sprinkler line i broke and had to come back to exchange it, but it was a simple process. Very clean store, clean bathrooms, great customer service and selection. They were giving out cookies in the front to sell power tools

This is something of a PSA as opposed to a review. Note first that the staff is great and there is a good selection of high quality items at this store. However, if you are fully digital, meaning you only have Apple Pay or the like on you, there is a $50 limit to what they will allow you to pay through that method. $50 doesn’t go far at a hardware store these days, so that pretty much means you should be prepared with cash or card. Now that Cal DMV allows for a digital Drivers License, more and more people are going to be carrying only their phones, so I’d hope ACE at least considers increasing their limit a bit.

This was such a terrible experience, I will not shop here again. We got a call about our order (A commercial weed eater) and they said they only had the floor display and no box, I asked for a discount and they said no. That's really awful as it is, but we needed it today so I guess we were forced. Then when we get there to pick up, the lady at the front (clarissa) was all weird and when we asked about the battery and backpack strap she immediately called a manager and stated she couldn't answer any questions. She was very abrupt and rude. Then Chris shows up and I asked about the battery and he rudely talked to me like I'm an idiot saying it's a commercial weed eater so typically the people buying said weed eater are working all day with it and will already have all the batteries. Bullony, but when I looked up the description online I couldn't tell if one came with it or not so I guess I have to let that go as well. So I asked for the backpack strap and he had to go get it out the back. They were extremely rude, and I feel like I got ripped off.

Great hardware store with one of the best inventory selections you'll find. If you can't find it here it probably doesn't exist
