Man it’s been two months since I went to Fairbanks but I randomly remembered this place and I had to write a review!!

I never expected to find the best Jamaican food I’ve ever had in Fairbanks, Alaska, but this gem of a restaurant completely blew me away! From the moment I walked in with my sister, the aroma of authentic Jamaican spices transported me straight to the Caribbean. The jerk chicken was perfectly spiced and tender, the oxtail stew was rich and flavorful, and the fried plantains were crisp on the outside and sweetly soft on the inside.

The staff were warm and welcoming, making the experience even more special. You can feel the heart and soul they put into every dish. I’m so thankful to have found this place—it’s like a little slice of Jamaica in the middle of Alaska. If you’re in Fairbanks, don’t miss it!

I have been a regular customer at this establishment for several years. The proprietor, Gentleman, is a highly respected individual and his persona alone instills a desire to return. Recently, the quality of the cabbage has been inconsistent. It appears to be raw and barely cooked. It is crunchy and lacks flavour. In the past, the cabbage alone was superior to the meats. I am unsure of the cause of this issue, but I have encountered it twice.

Update to my last review. The cabbage review i gave has not change. It is still extremely crunchy as if it's not cooked.

I ordered the jerk chicken today and while I love spicy, I could not share a bite with anyone that doesn't have ambitions to try spicy wings on Hot Ones. It's too ? ?, but it is too dry as well.

The restaurant took some hits when the owner was the only person preparing the meals. I knew that the meals were gonna be amazing when he had zero help.

Today is our 31st anniversary. We were married in Negril Jamaica. Decided to try some local Jamaican food (honestly weren't sure what to expect). Holy shit Batman! This food brought us right back to getting Jerk Chicken from random street vendors across from our hotel every night. The Jerk Chicken will light you up! It starts off with a sweet note and goes right for the spice. The Curry Chicken was delicious and the meat patties are amazing. The Plantains are wonderful. All that was missing was some Bammy Bread! Thank you for taking us back to our humble beginnings. We will definitely be coming back here on a regular basis.

What a Surprising find in Alaska. We went here off a recommendation from a Chena Springs employee. So glad he did & that we went. Spoke with the proprietor for a bit after he asked about why we were in Alaska. We asked the same & he gave his story. He made fresh cabbage for us after telling us how he does everything himself. Great young man & even better food. Of all the Jamaican spots I've been to, including Jamaica, his food is pretty good. He has a unique twist on his seasoning which made the jerk superb. This is definitely a Premier Eating Spot for Fairbanks and should be Highly Recommend. When we go back, this will be our 1st stop to eat

The food is legit best, outside of Jamaica, that I've ever tasted. The eat-in counter is small, but my daughter and I happily ate in and enjoyed the food with the Jamaican music playing, which was on point! Excellent service!

I’m sorry but this is not it… this is by far no means authentic Jamaican food and even if it’s cooked by a Jamaican I’m sorry but this is not a proper representation of Jamaican cuisine.. the plantains that were supposed to be ripe were dry and hard practically inedible. I got 5 plates: oxtail, 2 brown stew chicken, curry chicken and all was a mediocre joke. The brown stew and curry chicken was shredded (not how it’s supposed to be done) and taste less. The rice and peas and plain white rice was an even bigger joke. I also got the jerk chicken that was subpar compared to others I have had. Oh I also got some Pattie’s and those barely passed but was doughy (thank god for the hint of pepper in it) this was a complete waste. The store really needs to improve cooking and anyone who knows Caribbean cuisine will agree. Because if this is what they are serving and having people think is really Jamaican food it is a shame for them and the culture.
