A very disappointing dining experience. When we finished our meal, we were informed that a gratuity had already been included in the bill, amounting to 18% of the total. Since it was a buffet and we served ourselves, my friends and I felt that an 18% gratuity was unreasonable. However, the cashier responded in a very rude manner and refused to let us leave without paying.

What frustrated us the most was that at no point were we informed—through any means—that such a mandatory charge existed. This policy was not written on the small blackboard at the restaurant entrance, nor did the servers show us the menu with this information. There were no signs, no verbal notice, nothing. We felt completely blindsided by this policy.

Even if we had to accept the 18% charge as unfortunate, the cashier’s attitude was still a major issue. Given the quality of the food, we expected a much better level of customer service. It’s unfortunate that we didn’t take more time to review the feedback from previous customers before visiting.

I recently visited Essex Junction Grant Buffet with a group of 7-8 people, and unfortunately, the experience was not great. The food was just okay, nothing special, and it seemed like it had been stored for a while, despite looking high quality at first glance. It’s a buffet, so we served ourselves, which makes the automatic 18% gratuity feel excessive.

The staff didn’t seem interested in customer service at all—almost like they didn’t care if you ate or left. The cashier, in particular, could use a lesson in customer service. A polite and smiling face during business hours would go a long way instead of the rude attitude we encountered.

Overall, the experience didn’t meet expectations, especially for the price we paid.

So apparently they start charging gratitude automatically and won’t mention or say anything . I asked and waitress said go to my manager which I did and she said SIGN at the door . I don’t have problem paying gratitude which I always pay 18-20 % each time . On my way out I looked for so called SIGNS it was on bottom of sandwich board in TINY letter GRATUITY MAY BE ADDED AT WAITRESS DISCRETION Please be careful and make sure you check yours bills before you pay .

They have waitress to order your drinks and refill your drink and they clean your table consistently. Servers are very professional and attentive even during their crazy busy hours. This is not self-service, the waitresses are very attentive, well-deserving of the tip. I love this restaurant, definitely recommend.

Essex Junction Grand Buffet is well worth your taste buds. Whether a party of 1 or a party of 10, you will be pleased with your overall experience. The buffet is constantly being stocked with fresh food and even a bar of deserts. The freshness and quality of food at just $16.99 for a full access buffet with unlimited times to fill your plate, You just cant beat it. Staff are very nice and you can see they clearly work extremely hard amidst the fast paced environment. Highly recommend.

More than adequate buffet with impressive selection. The sushi is good enough to go just for that. I did make the mistake of squeezing an egg roll and a half a cup of oil materialized on my plate. Like any large buffet, a large percentage of the offerings are dried out or cold when you get to them but, the shear size of the selection allows for other options. Was pleased with it each time and will go again.

The food isn’t top quality but you get what you pay for. Lots of chicken options, I do wish that they had an option for spring rolls or egg rolls that didn’t have pork.
Beware that they start cleaning by 8:30 and expect you to be out by 9:00.

The food is delicious like always! The waitresses are extremely hard-working and nice with lots of smile. They would always tells us to take our time and don't rush. Highly recommend!
