Quality of food is really great. Their new Kongunadu menu is just lit. It might feel little pricey and gets busier on peak times but it’s totally worth it. I was so excited to try their Kambhakool but it was unfortunate that they didn’t start giving out that dish from that menu yet. Will definitely go again.

Thalaivas just opened its second location in Park Ridge, and it’s always a treat to go there. The food is amazing, bringing the real taste of India to every bite. The new spot has a beautiful ambiance—elegant décor, vibrant colors, and a spacious, fine-dining feel.

We started with Goli Soda, which took us right back to childhood. For food, we ordered Paneer Tikka—it was super flavorful and came in a big portion. The Medu Vada, Mini Podi Idli, and Mysore Masala Dosa were absolutely fantastic, with spot-on flavors and delicious chutneys and sambar on the side. To top it all off, we had South Indian filter coffee, which had just the right balance of sweetness, bitterness, and milkiness.

Thalaivas is easily one of my favorite Indian restaurants—it’s got the taste, the vibe, and the essence of Indian food. Can’t wait to go back!

The South Indian food is really amazing, and I liked seeing Tamil words in the restaurant. The service also felt just like being in Tamil Nadu.

This is the newly opened building of same thalaivas restaurant. Interiors very good, spacious. Food was same taste too, great for the most part. One feedback though is mutton kola urunda was too American - tasted like meat balls , not the typical Tamil style; could definitely be made flavorful if you would like to cater to South Indian audience. But I am sure Americans would love this type of preparation. Nevertheless I am not a kola urunda fan so no worries. Chicken 65 was the same taste it was super; although the piece sizes were much bigger this time, I would prefer the old smaller ideal size. Tried their newly introduced chicken noodles today, it was really good, was typical road side style. Parotta and goat curry was the best; curry was typical South Indian, goat was very tender and they also gave sufficient portion. Kalaki and omelette were same excellent. The arisi paruppu saatham could definitely use some improvements; no garlic, no flavor or smell was what I was told by my family member. Would be nice if a vegetable poriyal is kept as side dish for this. Just some constructive feedback.
