I've been coming to Mother's Day for over 20 years. My grandparents and my mom used to take me here when I was small as well! Whenever we are in the area and are hungry, we stop here. The restaurant is always clean and cozy. The menu has a ton of choices but we always end up getting our favorites each time.

Their soups are always good and they give you large portions, even if the soup is included with something like a sandwich. The food always comes out quick and it comes out hot.

The omelette was great- no complaints . The pancakes had the perfect amount of sweetness. These are the best pancakes I think actually. They were thick and just perfect. The coffee was great too. The service is always friendly 😁

Yes, this restaurant is not only a place you can take your mother on Mother’s Day, but the name of the restaurant is called Mother’s Day Restaurant. I’m sure they’re found easily in the local online search for a spot to take mom’s for Mother’s Day!

I found this restaurant while trying to find a breakfast spot on my way to North Riverside Mall. It’s practically down the street from the mall in the cozy western suburb of North Riverside, Illinois. During the time I searched for it on Google, it had an average of 4.4 stars for its ratings.

This was perfect and impromptu brunch spot to include in my 2024 Best Brunch Challenge!

It’s a nice joint with plenty of parking. The staff were friendly too. As expected, it was crowded for a Sunday morning, but surprisingly, we sat down right away. We were eating breakfast about 20 minutes of sitting down.

My husband tried the Mexican Omelette and gave it a good review, but he didn’t care too much for the pancakes. Yes, they look fluffy, however, when you bite into them, there was an extra texture – not rubbery, but there was some tension when you bite into the pancakes. Weird, but it was there. Once he added butter all over the pancakes, apparently that made it better. Ha Ha!

I ate the french toast and skirt steak skillet. Both were good, however, the french toast was a little light on the nutmeg and / or cinnamon. The skirt steak skillet was really delicious. That was my first experience. They added all the best toppings too. Fluffy eggs, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, two different cheeses, including swiss. The portion size was large, so I took some home to eat the next day.

The only surprising issue was the juice. Originally, I ordered the cranberry juice, and I had to send it back as it tasted too weak. Literally as if they got a glass of water and adding red food coloring. Yes, that bad! So the other choices were orange or apple juice. I was really trying to avoid acidic drinks, but I wanted some sort of flavor. I opted for the orange juice and that was somewhat better, but it tasted powdery. Needless to say I didn’t finish it.

If I’m in the area, I might try this restaurant again, but I’d definitely opt for a soda instead.

Don't order Mexican if you prefer traditional , but to be honest, I wasn't surprised it prepared differently. I was experimenting .
I requested an additional side dish , but it was delivered after I finished my meal.
Usually, servers come back to the table to ask if anything else is needed, but she didn't.

Would I be back?
I would but order a traditional plate

I'm beginning to realize how expensive eating put is getting.

My experiment failed.

Edit 9/8/24: The restaurant changed the management. And with it, many of the good servers/waitress they used to have starting with the individual who assign us the table. Arrogant and without words, not even. “Please follow me”. Just dropped the menu on tha table and went away. The waitress, on his second day. Took more than ten minutes to take our order. Even if no more than four tables at work. Once ordered, no more plates of the one I ordered. (). The host was yelling at ppl there in the kitchen. The guy was not able to handle a situation on a table close to us. The customers just left. Once again, the excuse was about a second day of the server.!!!
This place is no more the one it used to be.
Many people that come here regularly, they will realize about terrible changes, once they realize this weird management and how they handle it, sooner or later won’t be here anymore.
The new management, had the money enough to buy this place. But have no talent, no idea, not even the charisma, on how to handle and retain the customers this place retained for years.
So far, contrary at my previous review. I DO NOT recommend this place anymore. An uncomfortable truth.

Certainly a good place to live, visit and enjoy. Nice ambiance music and pleasant environment. Menu is plenty of variety and good taste. Even the coffee is delicious.she is always very attentive kind and Pro.

Perfect Chicago area diner. Had breakfast.. me: ham, cheese and mushroom omelet with hash browns & pancakes, husband: skillet breakfast with pancakes. Coffees. Everything tasted wonderful and exactly as we remember.. we've been out of Chicago for almost 10 years. This place was busy but has a parking lot. My photos do not do the food justice.. the omelet was so big and pillowy.. perfect amount of each ingredient. Anyway, nice chance to eat some good Chicago style food.

Ordered breakfast when arrived was cold sent back they microwave it. Tasted like microwave food bacon was hard. Sent back the food asked for the check. Was charged almost $8 for 2 cups of coffee. Which should have been waived due to inconvenience to us. We had problems a previous time but decided to give them another chance. I think the server took too long picking up our food that’s why it was cold. Coffee was weak too much water. I only gave 1 star to review this restaurant but they deserve 0 stars. We told them we won’t be back. Good luck if you go there. The server was kind & apologetic but I do believe she let the food sit because she was serving other customers.
