Exceptional Service from Mac at Kaufman's, Getting Me Into a Compound Bow!

As a newcomer to the world of compound bows, I started to explore local shops after doing some research. After a rather challenging experience trying a high-end bow at another store, which left my shoulder feeling the strain, I decided to visit Kaufman's.

My experience was truly outstanding. Mac, the resident expert, took the time to explain everything I needed to know and helped me find the perfect bow tailored to my skill level. Once he had me set up with the right equipment, he went above and beyond sighting and introduced the basics in form and posture that made drawing back that BOWTECH enjoyable! I highly recommend Mac and Kaufman's for anyone looking to get started in this sport, and continue to go to them for all my compound bow needs!

Super shady.
I called and talked to Shane about a Holosun optic. He said it wasn't in stock and that he couldn't order it. I thanked him for his time.
I then received a call back from Shane saying he could order it and it would be $139.00. I let him know I would get by there later that day to pay up front.
I drove my 10 miles to get there, went in and Shane wouldn't come out of the office. Another young man said it was going to cost $169 now that I was there. Shane had made an "honest" mistake. Then why was he hiding? I will never go back. They can lose customers one at a time if this is the way they keep their word after you've already driven there. Sad.

Bought my most recent pistol from here. The service is top notch. The guys at the gun store were very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. They answered all my questions and let me hold and feel the guns I was considering purchasing, and they helped me narrow it down. I will 100% purchase all of my firearms from here in the future. Man what an amazing place to shop for Guns, Bows, Knives, Clothes, and all your hunting needs including gun safes. If you have not been in this store you are missing out 100% customer satisfaction the employees are very knowledgeable and helpful the owners treat you as there own also did I mention they do giveaways and give sweet pews pews I won one and love it like I said if you haven't checked them out you need to.

Wish I could give the store a better rating. Awesome set up. Friendly people for the most part. The big problem I had was: I bought a pistol from the store that had to be sent to an FFL in El Paso since I am a Texas resident. The rep was cool and I ended up telling him I was moving OCONUS and if I bought the gun, I was going to need the gun sent right away to an FFL in El Paso so it’d be waiting for me to transfer over to me so then I’d be able to put it in my HHG since I couldn’t take it through Canada. I paid an additional $30 for shipping + the receiving FFL fee. I bought the gun on April 24. On May 10, I asked the receiving FFL if they had received the package yet. They had not. I called Kauffman’s and they didn’t seem to remember me or my order for a few minutes and the rep started asking others in the store about the order. I then heard somebody in the background say, “its here under..” then it went quiet. The rep came back on the phone and then told me they sent it about a week ago and the receiving FFL should be getting it real soon. On 16 May, I asked the receiving FFL if they got the package yet. He said he had not, so I called Kauffman’s and they had no answer for why the package had not arrived yet. I then asked if they had a tracking number. They said the person who dropped off the package didn’t get a tracking number for it. On 22 May, I asked the receiving FFL if he got the package. They had not. I called Kauffman’s and asked what the deal was. The rep said they would make it right if the package was missing. I then told them I paid $30 for shipping and they didn’t even bother getting a tracking number and that I was running out of time to get the gun and be able to ship it with HHG to Alaska. The rep then told me he was going to talk to his boss to try to get the tracking number. On the morning of 23 May the manager texted me the tracking number. On 24 May, the receiving FFL was able to get the package. Unfortunately, HHG has already been shipped. Now, I have a gun I can’t travel through Canada with. Now, it looks like my best option will be to have this FFL send it to an FFL in Alaska and pay two shipping costs and two FFL fees, if they will even do that.

So, looking at the tracking info, Kauffman’s lied about having already shipped the package when I inquired on 10 May. Tracking shows they sent it out after on 10 May. On 13 May, there was an attempted delivery and USPS says they left a notice. The receiving FFL says they didn’t receive the notice. Had Kauffman’s made an attempt at getting my tracking number on 16 May when I called, I would have been able to identify there had been an attempted delivery and rectified the situation. It wasn’t until 22-23 May when the manager got involved where they were actually able to get a tracking number where I was able to figure out there was a delivery issue- and by this point it was too late for me to sign over my gun.

I really like supporting small business, and I’ve always enjoyed going into the store because it’s a cool setup and they have good inventory, but they really screwed the pooch on this one. Then, they lied to cover it up. Then, they made no real attempt at solving the problem until the boss got involved. And now it’s costing me as much with additional FFL and shipping fees as it would have been if I’d have purchased the gun new. Overall, would not recommend.

If you are looking to get into archery or already experience I highly recommend taking your business to Kaufman’s. The Bowtech there “Mac” goes above and beyond. He is a true expert in his craft and is always willing to share his knowledge with you. I went from never having shot a bow to getting set up and coached by Mac. He took me from not even knowing how to shoot a bow to being able to shoot the fletchings off my arrows. Swing by Kaufman’s and visit Mac for all your archery needs.

Hands-down, the best customer service out of any outdoor/firearm store around. Staff is knowledgeable, patient and polite. They seem to enjoy my shopping experience as much as I did and it was to be talked to and not at. Not everyone knows everything so it was nice to be shown the what and why.
It’s very rare this day and time you find customer service such as I did at Kaufman’s. I have been a customer of theirs for many years, but continue to shop with them when need arises simply because of the great people they are, and the awesome people they employ. Go see them for your next outdoor, firearm, knife need!

I’ve bought several guns from the good folks at Kaufman’s. They have always been knowledgeable and professional. I appreciate their knowledge as well as their no pressure to buy attitudes. Their selection of rifles, handguns, and knives is second to none. I don’t/won’t buy guns anywhere else! Never had a bad experience shopping there!
