This place is EXCEEDINGLY overpriced.
Ordered:
1 meatball sandwich
1 Italian sausage
Total was $29.95

Which is a reasonable order for an Italian style deli.

I received two loaves of tomato flavored bread and I wish that was more of hyperbole. The meatball sub was one meatball cut into slivers, so sparse that the bread was touching. $13 before taxes.

The sausage sandwich was similarly half of one sausage cut into slivers with a slice of cheese. Again, not even enough meat to keep the bread from touching.

Flavors were at average, not notably better than Subway meatballs in texture or sauce flavor. So hard

I am attaching pictures judge for yourself whether this is a $ does it trader Joe's over here? That's just 30 meal.

I am absolutely flabbergasted at how this can be a $13 sandwich, and how it's doubled in price in 3 years. The business has been around for 37 years apparently.

Alotta's is a little out of the way sandwich shop that focuses on freshly prepped each day food and a friendly smile and conversation. The presence of this sandwich shop is strong enough that I was recommended this place while flying into San Jose airport. I drove the 25 mins into the quiet streets of Palo Alto to taste the hype. The hype is real. Along with great food there is a Santa Margherita to Porto Fino mural on the wall (attached for your viewing pleasure). I recommend the meatball sandwich and a bag of spiced nacho cheese Joe chips.

FINALLY! We’ve been scouring the earth like Caine from Kung Fu looking for a deli that serves up Italian classics like an east coast place. Finally found it! They are overpriced compared to east coast but it’s Los Altos, what can you do. We’re big fans

Best sandwich shop in the South Bay. The fresh baked french rolls are the secret. I’ve been going here for 50 years, never disappointed. They have great pasta, salads, and breakfast too!

Been coming here for 20years. Mike the owner Is awesome and the fresh rolls are amazing. I just miss the girl that worked here years ago that would put the added mayo/mustard and condiments I requested and was willing to pay extra for because the current staff doesn't apparently. I've been 3x the last 2months and my requests for extra mayo/mustard have been ignored. Sandwich is still good....bit I wish I could get it made how I order it.

3/5 to average my experience with my friend's experience. My meatball sub was incredible. Had around 4ish meatballs iirc. Definitely enough meat. My friend went more recently (on a weekday, whereas I've only been on weekends - might be a different person making sandwich), and he literally got one meatball. His sub was a pathetic imitation of what I got. We had completely opposite experiences. If you win the die roll, you'll have an amazing meal. Or lose and you'll regret going. It sounds like management needs to have a word with one of their employees.

Alotta's is my absolute favourite sandwich shop. The ditch crunch bread they use is always super fresh, plenty of filings but they don't over do it. Make sure to get all the fixings, the flavours are well balanced and really enhance the sandwich over all and all of it without causing the sandwich to fall apart. The Los altos sub is my go to but my wife loves the ravioli they do.

This is a great spot for an authentic New York deli sandwich. My co-worker strongly suggested this place and I remember thinking to myself .. really, how good could a sandwich be? Well, this place is really good! Definitely stop by for lunch sometime.

It's also right around the corner from Steve Jobs' boyhood home. Take a few minutes and drive by it!
